Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Fantastic property in great location, just a 10min walk down the hill to the main Stoupa beach. We had the 'Deluxe' 2 bed property and it is perfect, couldn't fault anything. All brand new and plenty of room, Chryssoula, the owner is very helpful and also on hand if anything is needed. A good welcome pack and water was left for us along with dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, some herbs/spices and tea/coffee. We requested a bbq and a beach umbrella and they were dropped round later that day. The pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and only us using it whilst we were staying there. A supermarket is right at the end of the road, a 2 min walk away and very well stocked, we got great steaks for the bbq from the butcher there. There is also a good bakery within the supermarket. Stoupa is a lovely old traditional greek resort, mainly older generation. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars. Plenty of room between the sunbeds for just putting your towel and umbrella down. A little walk to the left takes you to the small quiet Halikoura beach with a restaurant overlooking it and to the right is the sandy Kalogria beach which has space at the back to put a towel and umbrella but the front is taken up with too many sunbeds. Several restaurants and bars behind the beach, we especially liked Almyriki Tavern for lunch or dinner. We visited the village of Areopolis which is beautiful for a walk and coffee and then stopped off at Limeni for a swim in the crystal clear waters on the way back. On way to Stoupa we had 2 nights in Athens then on to Nafplio which is well worth a stop and then down the coast to Monemvasia another great stay overnight before travelling via Gythio on to Stoupa for the week. A great round trip from Athens.
